The Global Platform for Sustainable Natural Rubber (GPSNR) is an international multi-stakeholder platform focused on improving the sustainability of the natural rubber supply chain. It aims to address environmental and social challenges associated with rubber production and promote best practices across the industry.
GPSNR’s main objectives include enhancing transparency and traceability in the rubber supply chain, promoting sustainable and ethical sourcing practices, improving environmental performance, and supporting social initiatives to ensure fair labor practices and community development within the rubber industry.
GPSNR’s membership includes a diverse range of stakeholders from the natural rubber supply chain, such as rubber producers, processors, manufacturers, brands, and non-governmental organizations (NGOs). The platform encourages collaboration among these groups to drive collective action towards sustainability.
GPSNR contributes to sustainability by developing and implementing guidelines and standards for responsible rubber production. It supports initiatives such as improving land use practices, reducing deforestation, and enhancing worker welfare. The platform also fosters collaboration and knowledge sharing among members to address industry-wide challenges.
GPSNR has developed several key initiatives and standards, including the GPSNR Sustainable Natural Rubber Standard, which outlines criteria for sustainable practices in rubber production. The platform also focuses on enhancing supply chain transparency, monitoring and reporting on progress, and supporting projects that promote environmental conservation and social responsibility within the rubber sector.
